Co-designing a participatory
& sustainable housing to foster social cohesion in Paris
For ALFAMAA | Association | France | 2014 / 2016
CLIENT
Alfamaa is an association of 14 people (including me) who replied to a call for projects from Paris Cityhall to create an innovative participatory housing in the 19th arrondissement.
CHALLENGE
Co-design a participatory and sustainable housing and living place that reinforce social cohesion within the tenants and with the neighborhood. Create a new business model that enables people with different financial capacities to live together in a more fair model.
APPROACH
We worked collaboratively with a specialist in participatory housing, an architecture studio and a contractor to get the expertise of each cornerstone of the project. Together we identified needs and pain points on our side, for the neighborhood inhabitants and the city. Additionally, I created the whole communication material to convey our story.
SOLUTION
Based on our research, we co-designed an architectural project encompassing a third place premises open for the neighborhood and an innovative business model, that introduced a new way of governance. Project won in February 2016 and exhibited in Pavillon de l'Arsenal in April 2016.
